Research Technician position open!

A position for a research technician is now open in our lab.  Please search for job number 049205 on Upstate website (https://jobsatupstate.peopleadmin.com/applicants/jsp/shared/position/JobDetails_css.jsp).  A Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or other related biological disciplines and a minimum of one year’s experience in a research laboratory (senior research experience for college graduates will also be considered) are required.  Experience in yeast genetics and/or mammalian cell culture and transfection is preferred.  Basic conceptual knowledge of molecular cloning is required.

Will assist in experiments relevant to grant-funded work in studying DNA replication and genomic instability.  Will perform experiments on a routine basis including DNA isolation, agarose gel electrophoresis, Southern blotting/hybridization, and DNA library (e.g. whole genome DNA or captured DNA double strand breaks by Break-seq) preparation for high throughput sequencing.  Will also perform other duties as assigned: ordering and receiving supplies; bookkeeping; stock solution and media preparation for the laboratory; and general lab management with possible mentoring opportunity of student helpers and graduate assistants. Persons who are well organized, thoughtful and self-motivated will be given the highest consideration.  Salary commensurate with experience.
